Questions about the Hall.
Long career, hundreds of appearances, generally reliable, never quite elite. Think: solid professional who had a decent testimonial.
If they won a Ballon d'Or, multiple league titles as a key player, or were genuinely world-class for several seasons, they're too good for this Hall.
They might not have played enough games in major leagues (we require 100+ top-flight appearances), or they might have retired too recently (we have a 10-year rolling cutoff).
Yes. There's a nomination form where you can suggest players you think deserve consideration.
We propose one candidate per week and put them to a community vote. If they get sufficient support (typically 80%+ yes votes), they're inducted.
Fair enough. This is subjective by nature. Some players will be borderline. That's what makes it interesting.
We need some distance to properly assess careers. Ten years feels about right. This cutoff will roll forward over time.
Strikers who scored lots of goals but weren't elite often ended up at top clubs and won things, which excludes them. Centre-backs who were pretty good often had very long careers at mid-table clubs without winning much. Hence: lots of centre-backs.
Currently we focus on the major European leagues (England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France) where we have the most reliable data. We may expand this in future.
Mostly. It's a genuine attempt to celebrate solid professionals who deserve recognition, but we're not taking ourselves too seriously about it.
